Keep Your Vision Sharp with Proactive Eye Care

Regular eye care is essential for proactive health. Routine eye exams help us monitor changes to your eyes and vision, identifying potential issues early. By addressing concerns early on, we can help you maintain clear, comfortable vision and prevent complications.

We’re here to answer any eye health questions. If you have a concern or are just curious, ask your optometrist.

Eye Concerns We Can Help Manage & Treat

Our optometrist and eye care team are here to care for your eyes, managing common conditions like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, eye infections, eyelid issues, and more.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a diabetes-related complication that impacts the blood vessels in the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. Elevated blood sugar levels can harm these delicate vessels, resulting in abnormal growth or fluid leakage. It can—if left untreated—cause vision issues and potentially lead to blindness.

Regular diabetic eye exams are vital for the early detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy.

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which carries visual information from your eye to your brain. It often occurs due to increased pressure in the eye, which can gradually damage the nerve tissue.

With tonometry (eye pressure testing), visual field testing, and diagnostic imaging, we can monitor your optic nerve to detect changes or abnormalities. Early detection is crucial in managing glaucoma and preventing vision loss.

Secondary glaucoma occurs when intraocular pressure is caused by eye trauma, injury, or infection.

When the optic nerve is damaged, but intraocular pressure remains within normal range, normal-tension glaucoma may be the cause.

Cataracts

A cataract is a clouded, rigid area that develops on the eye’s lens and gradually enlarges. As it thickens and grows, it can cause blurry vision, sensitivity to light, and difficulty seeing at night. Cataracts often develop slowly and are more common in older adults.

In the early stages, contact lenses and glasses can help restore vision. When cataracts progress, cataract surgery often becomes neccessary for clear vision.

Eye infections, such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), are common and can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or allergies. Symptoms include redness, itching, tearing, and discharge. Treatment typically involves eye drops or ointments to target the specific cause of the infection.

Eyelid conditions, like blepharitis and rosacea, can affect the health of your eyelids and eyelashes. Blepharitis causes inflammation of the eyelids, leading to redness, irritation, and flaking. Rosacea can cause redness, bumps, and inflammation around the eyes.

Treatment often involves eyelid hygiene, warm compresses, and medicated eye drops or ointments.
